Step 1
So you’ve realized you need saving? We’re so happy for you! Pray this prayer to get started:
“Lord Jesus, I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. I believe You are the Son of God, and that You died and rose from the dead to rescue me from my sins and an eternity of separation from God. I choose today to open my heart to You. I ask You to be Lord of my Life and my personal Savior. Heavenly Father, Your Word says that “whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21) I have called upon the Name of Jesus, and I humble myself before You now, I accept Your wonderful Gift of Eternal Life, and I boldly confess, “Jesus Christ is Lord.” I believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead. I am now reborn! I am a Christian – Your very own child. And old things are passed away, all things are made new. (2 Corinthians 5:17) I’m a new creation in Christ Jesus. My past is dead and buried, it does not have the power to define me anymore. I am Yours, and You are mine (John 17:10), and I will walk in the Light of Your Word all the days of my life, in Jesus Name.”
Step 2
We’re not done yet. God doesn’t expect you to do this alone! Pray this prayer to receive the Power of His Spirit:
“Lord God, You also said in Your Word, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children; how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?” (Luke 11:13) I want everything You have provided for me in Christ. So, I’m also asking You to fill me with the Holy Spirit, the Comforter Jesus promised Who will abide with me forever (John 14:16). Holy Spirit, I submit myself to You in Jesus Name. Rise up within me as I praise God, and as the Bible says, I fully expect to “Speak with other tongues as You give me the utterance!” (Acts 2:4) I receive it by Faith, and I thank You for it, in Jesus Name.”
Step 3
Welcome to the family! Now, begin to rejoice! Praise God for filling You with His Holy Spirit. You have to use your own voice, God won’t force you to speak. Don’t worry about how it sounds, it’s a Heavenly language and it won’t make sense to your mind. But it WILL empower and build you up in the Spirit!
Continue to pray every day with this gift God has given you. You’re a born-again, Spirit-filled believer! You are brand new on the inside, and your life will be different from this day forward, changing into the Masterpiece that God has designed for you ahead of time (Ephesians 2:10), day-by-day, from the inside out.
Find a good church that preaches the Word of God and lives by It. God’s Family is your family too now, and though we’re not perfect (yet), we’re stronger together, and we help each other along this Narrow Road.
You have chosen the Path that leads to Life. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it!
Prioritize the Word of God and prayer above everything else. If anyone tells you what they believe is “beyond the Word” or “greater than the Word” don’t listen to them. God IS His Word. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us and His Name is Jesus – at His Name, every knee must bow and every tongue confess. He is the Name above all Names! Get into the Bible, and learn what God’s Voice sounds like when He’s speaking through His Word. Then you’ll never be deceived by the enemy. The Word of God is the foundation on which we build our lives, and when the rains come, and the flood waters rise, we stand strong, because we are founded on the Rock!
Remember, you are never alone. Jesus promised to be with you, even to the ends of the earth. He always hears, He always cares, He rejoices to come to the aid of all those who belong to Him. AND He has given you His Spirit! The Hope of Glory, living on the inside of you. You are Mighty through God, and a holy Temple, set apart for His Presence, and empowered to do His Work.
